We're building something special at The Atlantic: One of the U.S.'s most vital media websites, with a history dating back to the abolitionists and a soul filled with the voices of Mark Twain, Hannah Rosin and Ta-Nahisi Coates. In our 160th year, we now reach 33+ million readers a month; we host some of the world's most interesting voices, both in print and on stage; and we are committed to the future of sustainable, non-partisan journalism, wherever it may take us.
To that end, we're looking for an experienced and passionate Product Manager to join our growing product team, with the charge of finding what's next for The Atlantic and for the future of media at large.
You'd be responsible for a number of existing products, building and expanding our core capabilities. Equally important, however, is an eye for the future: The role is will oversee the development of new initiatives, from identifying a unified vision to developing product specifications to completing a smooth launch then monitoring and optimizing future iterations.
You must be passionate about creating great software. We need an advocate for our customers who can also balance the needs of stakeholders and senior management. But you also must have a passion for The Atlantic — our mission is to explore the American idea, "of no party or clique." We're looking for a product manager who's excited by the challenge of using experimentation, results-based iteration, and continual improvement to move that mission forward, empowering both our journalists and our readers.

Qualifications of Ideal Candidate:
Atlantic Media Values:
Across Atlantic Media, generally, the firm looks for two “pillar gifts” in you, and everyone else. In all of us, these are more aspirational than actual, but they are central in our intentions –
Force of Ideas: At the center of Atlantic Media work are the ideas within our writing. We believe that ideas – to the good and not – have consequence. Our highest work is bringing rigor, insight, intellectual honesty, to that ultimate purpose of separating the bad from the good, and giving voice to the latter.
Spirit of Generosity: Atlantic Media seeks in its ranks a spirit of generosity – a natural disposition in each colleague toward service and selfless conduct. Atlantic Media writing should be cut from the same cloth –critical on the merits but informed by charity and forbearance in measuring motive and personal character.
