Quartz is a digitally native news outlet launched by Atlantic Media in September 2012 to provide a digital guide to the new global economy. Quartz is user-first, optimized for the changing media habits of busy executives, and reaches audiences across multiple platforms:

In a span of less than 5 years, Quartz has captured the attention of the media industry with more than 200 blue-chip advertisers running across our properties and a 90% renewal rate for branded content programs. Advertising is custom, and developed by our in-house studio, Quartz Creative, with design and user experience at its core. TIME Magazine named Quartz on its list of "50 Best Websites", TED has noted Quartz as one of the "100 Websites You Should Know and Use", and Quartz’s leadership team is drawn from award-winning veterans and rising stars.

Quartz is looking for an Account Director to join our growing, all-star team of digital media professionals in an exciting, start-up environment in San Francisco. This is an opportunity to make an impact on major accounts at an exciting new brand that is built for today.  


  • Cultivate strong relationships through a consultative process involving on-site meetings and presentations with client and agency decision makers.
  • Develop and deliver winning programs and proposals that lead to lasting and commercially successful advertising partnerships with a focus on branded content creation and innovative custom advertising.
  • Inform ongoing business strategy development through deep knowledge and understanding of the industry, market, and trends.
  • Serve as a representative of the Quartz brand in a positive, convincing, and enthusiastic manner. 


  • Highly motivated, proactive self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to win.
  • Ideally has relationships on both agency side and client side.
  • Ability to take ownership and work independently to meet aggressive performance goals.
  • Outstanding professional record of achievement.
  • Strong interest in global business, high-quality content and online media.
  • Excellent and persuasive communication skills, including an ability to create and deliver convincing arguments verbally and in writing.
