We’re seeking an experienced audio producer and editor to lead the Atlantic’s podcasting efforts, including Radio Atlantic and another forthcoming interview show. The person we have in mind is an avid podcast listener, capable of enjoying and editing shows in a number of formats, from one-on-one interviews to roundtable conversations to well-crafted audio narratives. You should be gifted at the art of making arresting audio journalism, skilled at conceiving how to shape a story, conversation, or idea into a compelling audio show, prepping hosts, constructing and editing scripts, giving direction in the studio, and editing and mixing audio segments. You should have an interest in understanding our listening audience and strategizing about how to maximize the reach of our shows, broaden their appeal, and keep listeners hooked. Most of all, you should understand the Atlantic’s journalistic strengths and bring a detailed sense of how to translate those strengths into the podcast arena.
Across Atlantic Media, generally, the firm looks for two “pillar gifts” in its candidates. In all of us, these are more aspirational than actual, but they are central in our intentions.
1. Force of Intellect - Atlantic Media seeks a discipline and rigor of thought as manifested, often, in exceptional academic performance and, later, success in a professional environment.
2. Spirit of Generosity - Equally, Atlantic Media seeks what we term a spirit of generosity – a natural disposition towards service and selfless conduct.
Atlantic Media is an EOE of Minorities/Women/Vets/Disability.
